Pedestrians Suddenly Unsure Where Anything Is
A routine update to Google Maps has caused widespread confusion among New York City residents who have apparently never actually known where they’re going and were just pretending the whole time. Street corners that definitely existed are now missing. Landmarks have relocated. Reality itself seems to have been reshuffle-coded.
“The corner of 42nd and Broadway?” questioned one Manhattan resident. “Pretty sure that’s been a Starbucks for the last six months. Or is it still there? I honestly can’t tell anymore.”
New York Reddit communities descended into chaos, while the satirical investigation noted that New Yorkers’ legendary sense of direction was apparently based entirely on Google’s computational abilities.
