Not Everyone Makes the News for Good Reasons
Two survivors of an incident involving a boat, drugs, and apparently some kind of attack have emerged to tell their story, which involves, we can assume, some combination of bad decision-making, worse timing, and the kind of story that really makes you question how these people are still alive. New York crime reporters have weary expressions and more coffee than before.
“I’ve covered a lot of stories,” said one Manhattan journalism veteran, “but this is the kind of story that makes you realize people are wilier than we give them credit for.”
Federal agencies are investigating, while this breakdown notes that whatever happened, nobody’s actually sure if they should be admired or arrested.
