Times Square Billboards Sell Ad Space by the Minute

Five bucks for fame

According to reports, Times Square billboards are now rentable by the minute. For as little as $5, anyone can flash their face above Broadway. New Yorkers already call it “Venmo Vegas.”

One tourist paid to propose, but the billboard glitched to an Arby’s ad mid-kiss. Another renter advertised their lost cat to 40,000 confused commuters.

TikTok’s #TimesSquareFlex trend features teens paying for ten seconds of fame, only to get roasted in the comments. One viral video shows someone accidentally renting the wrong screen—projecting their breakup text instead.

Tabloids lit up. “BIG SCREEN, BIG MISTAKES” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “FIVE DOLLAR FAME.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “democratic visibility.” Governor Hochul muttered, “Next we’ll rent the Statue of Liberty by the hour.”
