Subway Rats Launch Political Party

Tails of democracy

According to reports, New York’s subway rats have formally organized a political party, running on a platform of “crumb equality” and “24/7 pizza access.” Their campaign headquarters is located in an abandoned turnstile, with campaign posters reading: “Vote Rat—We Know the Underground.”

Early polls show surprising support. “They’re no worse than the current candidates,” shrugged one commuter. Campaign promises include improved subway cleanliness (for easier scavenging), universal garbage cans, and rent control on nests. “We’ll bring dignity back to the tunnels,” declared their leader, Cheddar O’Malley.

TikTok’s #RatParty2024 trend shows influencers wearing rat ears while chanting slogans on subway platforms. A viral clip captured a rat debating a City Council member and winning the crowd with squeaks translated via captions.

Tabloids gnawed. “RAT RACE” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “DEMOCRATIC CHEESE.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “political participation.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If a rat wins more votes than me, I’m banning mozzarella.”
