Stage shuffle
According to reports, Broadway producers have scrapped dialogue in favor of TikTok dances, citing “shorter attention spans and better merch tie-ins.” The latest revival of *Hamlet* now opens with Hamlet flossing instead of soliloquizing. Audiences are divided: some are captivated, others just confused.
Actors say the new format is grueling. “Eight shows a week of Renegade dances is breaking my hips,” complained one star. Yet producers argue its the future. “Why speak when you can dab?” asked one director. Ticket prices have soared, with “front-row dance battle splash zone” seats costing $600.
Tourists are thrilled. “I didnt understand the words anyway,” said one visitor from Ohio. “But the Fortnite dance-off in Act 2? Stunning.”
TikToks #BroadwayTok trend shows theatergoers duetting with actors mid-performance. A viral clip captured the Phantom doing the Griddy while descending into his lair.
Tabloids jazz-handed it. “SHOW TUNE TWERK” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “ALL THAT JIG.”
Mayor Adams praised it as “cultural adaptation.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If I see Macbeth flossing, Im cutting arts funding.”
