According to reports, the Statue of Liberty has joined multiple dating apps, describing herself as “tall, torch-bearing, and tired of long-distance ferries.” Her bio reportedly reads: “Green goddess, loves fireworks, fluent in French. Swipe right if you can handle a lady with baggage (immigrants welcome).”
Tourists are thrilled, posing in front of her profile pic for selfies. Locals roll their eyes, muttering: “Great, now even statues are ghosting me.” The apps claim her account was verified after she uploaded a torch selfie and a picture of her passport, which is stamped “France, 1886.”
TikToks #SwipeOfLiberty trend is shining: influencers pretending to go on dates with the statue, pranksters editing chats like “u up? signed, Lady Liberty,” and one viral clip of a guy trying to bring her a ring pop. Ferry rides are suddenly marketed as “speed dating cruises.”
Tabloids lit it up. The Post shouted: “STATUE SEEKS STATUE-ESQUE.” The Daily News countered: “LIBERTY LOOKING FOR LOVE.”
Mayor Adams said: “She deserves happiness too.” Governor Hochul muttered: “If Albany tries this, Im banning giant torches on Hinge.”
