NYC Pigeons Train on Citi Bikes

Flying wheels

According to reports, New York’s pigeons have started perching on Citi Bikes, learning to balance and occasionally pedaling. Riders complain the birds peck at handlebars like gym bros hogging equipment. Some tourists think it’s an official Citi Bike feature called “eco-coop transit.”

“They’re unionizing,” warned one commuter after being chased by a pigeon wearing a bike helmet. Delivery workers say pigeons are competition—faster, cheaper, and less likely to steal fries.

TikTok’s #PigeonPeloton trend shows flocks pedaling in formation. One viral fail: a pigeon crashed into a pretzel cart, leaving feathers and mustard everywhere.

Tabloids flapped. “BIRD BIKE BOOM” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “COOP COMMUTE.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “wings of progress.” Governor Hochul muttered, “At this point, just give them MetroCards.”
