Nature becomes exclusive
New Yorkers must now book a tablejust to sit under a tree. According to reports, Central Park has adopted a reservation system, making nature officially harder to access than a Michelin-starred restaurant.
Locals logged in at midnight only to find “lawn spots” fully booked through 2026. A scalper was caught reselling shady tree access on Craigslist for $500 per hour. Meanwhile, influencers are paying top dollar for exclusive “selfie permits” near Bow Bridge.
“First they charge me for air conditioning, now theyre charging me for air,” complained a Bronx resident. Joggers grumbled that their 6 a.m. runs now require confirmation emails. Dog walkers need “pup passes,” though most dogs still refuse to pick up their own reservations.
Tabloids dug in. “RESERVE YOUR ROOTS” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “TREE-DICULOUS.” TikTok filled with #ParkReservations, featuring users crying outside locked gates while squirrels mocked them from inside.
Mayor Adams defended the move, claiming it would “curb overcrowding and improve vibes.” Governor Hochul promised to personally hold a picnic lottery, though critics accused her of “weaponizing charcuterie.”
For now, Central Park has officially gone velvet rope, and New Yorkers are left wondering if Prospect Park will soon add bottle service.
