Times Square Replaces Billboards with Mirrors

Tourists finally see themselves

Times Square has done the unthinkable. According to reports, the world’s most famous ad space has ditched neon ads and giant screens—replacing them all with mirrors. Now, tourists don’t just stare at brands; they stare at themselves.

“Why sell them soda when they’ll buy into their own reflection?” explained a marketing executive applying lip gloss in a 50-foot mirror. Influencers are ecstatic. “It’s the world’s biggest selfie wall,” shouted one TikToker, hogging three lanes of pedestrian traffic.

Locals, however, are appalled. “I used to avoid Times Square for the crowds. Now I avoid it because I don’t want to see myself in 4K after a bodega sandwich,” said one Midtown worker.

Tabloids got dramatic. “MIRRORRORRORROR” blared the Post. The Daily News countered: “SELF-ABSORBED SQUARE.” TikTokers created #MirrorSquare, posting slow-motion montages of themselves dramatically flipping their hair against taxi backdrops.

Mayor Adams said the mirrors promote “self-reflection” in more ways than one. Governor Hochul added that the plan saves electricity, though critics noted it raises narcissism levels to historic highs.

For now, Times Square is shinier, emptier, and more self-obsessed than ever before—exactly what New York deserves.
