Staten Island Ferry Adds Hot Tub Deck

Spa on the harbor

According to reports, the Staten Island Ferry has unveiled a new “Hot Tub Deck” to lure more riders. For $10, commuters can soak in a bubbling spa while gazing at the Statue of Liberty, sipping cocktails served in foam life preservers. “Why sit in traffic when you can marinate in chlorine with strangers?” asked one early adopter.

The deck features 12 communal hot tubs, each color-coded by vibe: “Romantic Reds,” “Family Friendly Blues,” and “Finance Bro Greens” complete with floating White Claws. Ferry attendants moonlight as lifeguards, armed with pool noodles to break up splash fights. Towels are available for rent at $15—wet, of course.

Commuters love the innovation. One Staten Island mom called it “the first time my commute felt like spring break.” A Wall Street banker reportedly closed a $20 million deal mid-soak, though his waterproof briefcase smelled like chlorine for weeks. Tourists, meanwhile, mistake the tubs for authentic “New York baths” and snap selfies while seagulls attempt dive-bomb attacks for snacks.

TikTok’s #FerryTub is trending: viral clips of seagulls stealing cocktails, Staten Island dads cannonballing into tubs, and influencers doing skincare routines mid-sail. Street vendors outside the terminal now rent flip-flops and sell “FerryTub merch” including inflatable pretzel rafts.

Tabloids splashed out. The Post shouted: “SPLASH ISLAND.” The Daily News countered: “SOAK THE RICH.”

Mayor Adams praised: “This is peak wellness commuting.” Governor Hochul muttered: “If Amtrak tries hot tubs, I’m banning trains.”
