Governor Announces New Policy: New York Will Become Underwater Deliberately

New York Governor announced this week that the state will deliberately flood itself to “get ahead of climate change,” reasoning that if New York becomes underwater intentionally, it can at least control the process rather than having rising seas do it unexpectedly.
The Plan That Violates Every Principle
“Climate change will eventually flood New York,” explained the governor. “So we’re choosing to do it ourselves. This way, we control the timing, the rate, and we can market it as a proactive climate initiative.”
When asked whether deliberately flooding the state would destroy property, kill people, and make the area uninhabitable, the governor replied: “Those are concerns for people who think climate adaptation should actually work. We’re operating on the principle of appearing to do something, even if that something is catastrophic.”
Early implementation involves opening flood gates in Manhattan, deliberately damming the Hudson River, and generally flooding things while claiming it’s “controlled aquatic integration.”
How This Represents Peak Governmental Logic
This mirrors institutional approaches documented elsewhere, as analyzed in studies of how organizations create disasters while claiming to manage them. New York isn’t adapting to climate change. It’s creating a climate disaster while calling it policy.
“We’ve learned from successful government that you can justify anything if you present it as inevitable,” explained state officials. “New York will be underwater eventually. We’re just accelerating the timeline and acting like we’re in control.”
They are not in control. They are creating an aquatic disaster.
Resident Response: Panic
New York media outlets are reporting on mass evacuations, property abandonment, and the general sense that the state government has completely lost its mind.
The governor’s office has responded by acknowledging the evacuations while suggesting: “This is temporary. Once New York is fully underwater, we’ll develop underwater housing. It’s actually quite progressive.”
Underwater housing does not exist and is not a solution.
At this point, New York State is literally destroying itself while claiming it’s climate adaptation, which is somehow consistent with how the state frequently operates: creating disasters while congratulating itself on the initiative.
