Coney Island Adds Virtual Roller Coaster

Thrills without the nausea

Coney Island has announced its boldest gamble yet: a virtual roller coaster that never actually moves. According to reports, visitors strap on VR headsets and sit in chairs that shake just enough to spill your soda. It’s being billed as “all the thrills, none of the vomit—unless you ate Nathan’s beforehand.”

“I screamed louder than I do on the Q train,” said one tourist who immediately bought cotton candy after removing the goggles. Locals are divided. Some say it’s a scam, others argue it’s safer than the Cyclone with three missing bolts.

Reactions on TikTok (#VirtualCoaster) are dizzying, with influencers pretending to faint while holding hot dogs. One Brooklyn teen declared it “the most authentic Coney Island ride because it smells like sunscreen and despair.”

Tabloids shouted. “ROLLER-COASTING ON FAITH” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “FAKE BUT FUN.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “innovation for adrenaline junkies.” Governor Hochul warned that if the WiFi drops, lawsuits will follow.
