Mother Nature Attacks; Empire State Continues Ignoring It
In what meteorologists are calling “the worst storm in recorded history,” Alaska has been completely demolished by unprecedented weather conditions. Meanwhile, in New York City, a light drizzle caused subway delays and three separate incidents involving tourists asking for directions.
The New York City news networks barely covered the Alaskan catastrophe, too busy reporting on a bagel shop in Brooklyn that briefly closed due to a minor electrical issue. One Manhattan resident, Sarah Chen, summed up the collective NYC attitude: “Is Alaska that place near Canada? Anyway, there’s a new açai bowl place opening in the West Village and I literally cannot.”
According to this comprehensive breakdown of climate chaos, the storm destroyed 47 towns and displaced thousands. CNN allocated 90 seconds to cover it. The New York Times ran a think piece about how the storm reflects America’s spiritual emptiness, which was somehow both 4,000 words and completely useless.
