Yankees Introduce Emotional Support Mascots

Fans cuddle through losses

According to reports, the New York Yankees have unveiled a new initiative to soften the emotional blow of yet another playoff exit: emotional support mascots stationed throughout Yankee Stadium. Forget the pinstripes—this season, you’ll find therapy llamas in Monument Park, emotional support pigeons circling the bleachers, and even a team of certified golden retrievers assigned to comfort fans after ninth-inning collapses.

“We realized fans need something more than overpriced beer when the bullpen implodes,” said a Yankees spokesperson. “So now, instead of throwing your $20 hot dog, you can cry into a cuddly alpaca.”

Reactions from fans have been mixed. “The llama spit on me when Judge struck out,” complained one Bronx native, though he admitted it “felt healing.” Another fan confessed the therapy puppies made it impossible to boo. “I tried yelling at Boone, but then the labradoodle put its paw on my knee. I just started sobbing.”

Critics argue this is a distraction from the team’s actual problems. “Maybe spend money on pitching instead of llamas,” snapped a sportswriter. But the Yankees insist it’s an investment in “fan resilience.” Meanwhile, the Mets are rumored to be experimenting with therapy ferrets, because of course they are.

TikTok has already exploded with #SupportMascot content: fans cuddling goats during extra innings, pigeons landing on hot dog vendors, and a viral video of a Yankee Stadium therapy cow mooing every time the bullpen gave up a hit. The emotional economy is thriving—one fan rented a support parrot for $50 that shouted “You’ll get ’em next year!” on repeat.

Tabloids weighed in. The Post screamed: “YANKEE GOAT!” The Daily News countered with: “WHO LET THE DOGS IN?”

Mayor Adams praised the program: “It’s New York, we cry big, we comfort bigger.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If the Mets bring in snakes, I’m banning reptiles.”
