Skyline sleepover
According to reports, New Yorks most famous skyscraper is now available as an Airbnb rental. For $12,000 a night, guests can stay in the observation deck penthouse, complete with coin-operated binoculars and unlimited pigeons as neighbors. “Its the highest rent in Manhattan,” bragged the listing. “Literally.”
Amenities include 24/7 elevator access, wind gusts strong enough to remove toupees, and free selfies with tourists who dont realize theyre photobombing. Guests are warned that King Kong occasionally drops by, though management insists hes “house-trained.”
Critics say it cheapens a historic landmark. Supporters argue its no worse than paying $4,000 for a closet in the East Village. “At least this one has a view,” said one influencer filming a room tour while hanging halfway out a window.
TikToks #EmpireBNB trend shows couples drinking champagne at 1,200 feet, while a viral clip captured a guest accidentally dropping pizza on Fifth Avenue. “It hit a cabbie, but he ate it anyway,” said witnesses.
Tabloids soared. “STAY HIGH” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “ROOM WITH A VIEWAND WIND.”
Mayor Adams praised it as “housing innovation.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If I get outbid by a tourist for a night here, Im banning Airbnbs.”
