Sax solos meet off-key ballads

Harlem’s legendary jazz clubs are shaking things up by adding karaoke nights. According to reports, visitors can now croon Frank Sinatra immediately after a blistering sax solo. Backup bands politely try to keep up with off-key renditions of “Empire State of Mind.”

“It’s like Birdland, but with birds squawking,” said one unimpressed trumpeter. Tourists love it, locals cringe. One woman shouted, “Don’t you dare butcher Billie Holiday!” before unplugging a mic.

TikTok’s #Jazzoke trend shows influencers belting pop songs while jazz pianists improvise nervously. The result is chaos, but with soul.

Tabloids riffed. “OFF-BEAT” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “SAX AND THE CITY.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “cultural fusion.” Governor Hochul swore she’d only sing if accompanied by a tuba. Harlem braced itself.
