Wall Street Bankers Replace Ties with Capes

Fashion meets finance

According to reports, Wall Street bankers are ditching traditional ties and adopting superhero-style capes as their new power accessory. Trading floors now look like Comic-Con cosplay events, with brokers swooping dramatically every time the Dow drops. “It makes me feel invincible while shorting the economy,” said one cape-clad hedge fund manager.

Styles range from velvet Gotham chic to polyester knock-offs that smell faintly of Four Loko. Goldman Sachs introduced branded capes embroidered with dollar signs, while JPMorgan Chase is pushing limited-edition glow-in-the-dark models. An intern reportedly tripped on his cape and caused a market dip of 200 points. “Risk management didn’t account for wardrobe malfunctions,” admitted one analyst.

Other bankers remain skeptical. “I can’t take advice from a guy in a Batman cape,” muttered a weary trader. Yet fashion blogs are praising it as “the boldest Wall Street pivot since suspenders.”

TikTok’s #CapeTrader is trending: clips of bankers dramatically swirling capes before yelling “SELL,” influencers parading in finance-themed cosplay, and a viral moment where a cape got caught in a Bloomberg terminal, halting trades for 30 minutes. Midtown dry cleaners now offer “cape-only” services for $200 a press.

Tabloids soared. The Post headlined: “CAPED CAPITALISM.” The Daily News countered: “SUPER BRO-KERS.”

Mayor Adams shrugged: “If it works, let them fly.” Governor Hochul muttered: “If Albany lobbyists wear capes, I’m banning sequins.”
