Staten Island Ferry Installs Karaoke Nights

Singing on the waves

According to reports, Staten Island Ferry rides now come with off-key renditions of Bon Jovi. The city installed karaoke machines to “boost morale,” but commuters say it’s like being trapped at a bad wedding while crossing New York Harbor.

Passengers belt out “Empire State of Mind” while gulls scream in protest. One man’s Whitney Houston tribute was so loud it set off car alarms onshore. Tourists film it all, thinking it’s performance art, while locals weep into Dunkin’ cups.

TikTok’s #Ferryoke trend features wannabe Broadway stars howling as the ferry lurches. One viral fail: a guy dropped the mic into the Hudson, electrifying the atmosphere—literally.

Tabloids roared. “OCEAN IDOLS” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “SONGS ON THE SEAS.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “culture in transit.” Governor Hochul muttered, “This is why I drive.”
