NYC Marathon Replaced with Pizza Crawl

26.2 slices

According to reports, organizers have officially replaced the NYC Marathon with a “26.2 slice pizza crawl.” Runners now carbo-load in real time, sprinting between iconic slice joints in all five boroughs. The finish line is at Di Fara’s, though some participants never make it past Joe’s in the Village.

Each mile marker is a different topping. Mile 5: pepperoni. Mile 12: mushroom. Mile 20: pineapple (to weed out the weak). Athletes wear grease-resistant bibs and hydration belts filled with garlic knots. A runner from Queens boasted: “I carbo-loaded while carbo-loading.”

TikTok’s #PizzaMarathon trend is saucy: clips of joggers chugging marinara, influencers trying to sprint while balancing pies, and pranksters replacing Gatorade cups with ranch dressing. One viral video showed a man proposing with a pizza box at mile 18—only to get tomato sauce all over the ring.

Tabloids gobbled it up. The Post shouted: “SLICE TO MEET YOU.” The Daily News countered: “26.2 CHEWS.”

Mayor Adams declared: “This is culinary fitness.” Governor Hochul muttered: “If Albany tries this, I’m banning deep dish.”
