NYC Declares Pizza Rat a Folk Hero

City unveils cheesy statue

Move over, Statue of Liberty. According to reports, New York has officially declared Pizza Rat an urban folk hero, unveiling a bronze statue in Times Square. The statue shows the legendary rodent dragging a massive slice down subway stairs, immortalized in a pose described as “Michelangelo’s David meets Chuck E. Cheese.”

“Pizza Rat represents the New York spirit,” said Mayor Adams at the unveiling, balancing his speech with a slice of pepperoni. “Resilient, resourceful, and never ashamed of eating in public.”

Locals took selfies with the statue, though many complained pigeons had already pooped on it. Tourists lined up for photos, shouting things like “This is better than Broadway!” Meanwhile, rival rats argued Pizza Rat was “overrated” and demanded statues of Bagel Rat and Cannoli Squirrel.

Tabloids ate it up. “SLICE OF HISTORY” shouted the Post. The Daily News countered: “CHEESUS CHRIST.” TikTok exploded with #PizzaRatChallenge, where New Yorkers dragged slices across sidewalks while being chased by sanitation workers.

Critics say honoring a rat sets a dangerous precedent, warning that Cockroach-on-Churro could be next. But fans insist Pizza Rat is a symbol of hope in a city where dreams—and garbage—never sleep.
