Treatment Includes Managed Exposure To Eric Adams Headlines

NEW YORK, N.Y. — Bellevue Hospital today announced the launch of a new specialty clinic dedicated entirely to the treatment of chronic and incurable Mamdani-induced political enthusiasm, citing what its medical director described as “an unprecedented surge in extremely vibrant civic engagement.”
The Beatlemania-Adjacent Civic Energy Clinic, located on the third floor of the Bellevue main building, will offer screening, evaluation, and “gentle redirection” for New Yorkers who have, in the months since Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration, displayed symptoms including spontaneous shouting outside City Hall, the urge to take selfies through the iron gates, and an inability to discuss anything else at brunch.
The Clinical Picture
“What we are seeing here is, scientifically, a thing,” said clinic director Dr. Amaani Patel-Yu, addressing reporters in a Bellevue conference room. “Patients arrive with elevated heart rates, persistent civic optimism, and what one nurse described as a glow. We are obligated, as physicians, to treat the glow.”
Common patient profiles include: 25-year-old tech consultants who report feeling “like it is a presidential inauguration”; lifelong New Yorkers who have not previously expressed enthusiasm about anything; and tourists who came to Times Square and accidentally caught a Mamdani press conference.
Treatment Protocol
The clinic’s standard protocol begins with a brief diagnostic interview, followed by what Patel-Yu called “managed exposure to bad news.” Patients are shown headlines about the late state budget, the city’s pension obligations, and Eric Adams’s federal indictment, in increasing order of severity.
“We do not want to extinguish the enthusiasm,” said Patel-Yu. “We simply want to bring it down to a sustainable level. Beatlemania, after all, eventually became Yellow Submarine. We do not want New York to skip the middle albums.”
Civic Implications
City Hall, asked for comment, declined to officially endorse the clinic but reportedly distributed its phone number to reporters covering particularly large press conferences.
The clinic, which will be funded through a combination of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, donor philanthropy, and “literally one TikTok of Cardi B explaining what the clinic does,” begins accepting patients next Monday.
The first appointment slot, sources confirmed, has already been claimed by a 47-year-old man from Astoria who has not stopped saying the word “free buses” since January 1.
