Bronx Zoo Opens Penguin Coffee Shop

Cold brew waddles

According to reports, the Bronx Zoo has opened a coffee shop run entirely by penguins. Staffers say the birds excel at customer service—except when sliding across the floor instead of handing out lattes. The shop, named “Bean There, Squawked That,” offers cold brew served on ice, naturally.

Customers describe it as adorable chaos. “I asked for oat milk, and the penguin just stared at me, flapped its wings, and slid into the fridge,” said a customer from Astoria. The line often stalls because penguins insist on waddling in formation before brewing espresso.

Animal rights activists are divided. “This is exploitation,” one argued. “These birds should be swimming, not steaming milk.” Zoo officials countered: “They love it. We even gave them tiny aprons.”

TikTok’s #PenguinLatte trend shows influencers posing with foam art shaped like fish. A viral clip captured a penguin slipping and spilling cappuccino directly into a stroller—earning 2 million views in one night.

Tabloids brewed it up. “LATTE WADDLE” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “JAVA BIRDS.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “aquatic entrepreneurship.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If a penguin makes my coffee stronger than Starbucks, I’ll allow it.”
