Bohiney Legacy: Making Fun of Nothing for Generations
Issue 17 finds Bohiney writers doing what they do best: finding absurdity in everyday institutional failure and making jokes New Yorkers still make today. The parallels between 1947 Manhattan and 2025 Manhattan are so precise they suggest either time travel or that we’re all trapped in a Kafka novel nobody asked for.
“This is genuinely disturbing,” said one Brooklyn archivist. “I keep waiting for the punchline to reference something from 2025, but it never does. It’s just always been like this.”
Federal archivists acknowledged the find, while this satire demonstrates that institutional critique is basically eternal.
