NYC Pizza Slices Now Sold by Subscription

Monthly mozzarella

According to reports, New York pizzerias are ditching per-slice sales in favor of a subscription model. For $49.99 a month, members get “unlimited pizza drops” at select locations, complete with an app that pings users whenever a slice is hot out of the oven. “It’s like Netflix, but for indigestion,” said one Lower East Side pizza maker.

The model promises savings but comes with strings. Members must book slices in advance and can only redeem them during “slice windows.” “I missed my window and had to eat salad like a tourist,” complained one subscriber. Some plans even include “premium toppings” only unlocked after a loyalty streak. “It’s basically Candy Crush with pepperoni,” joked another.

Locals are divided. Some embrace it. “I already pay subscriptions for streaming, laundry, and walking tours. Why not pizza?” said one Brooklynite. Others are furious. “A dollar slice was the last thing holding this city together, and now it’s behind a paywall?” shouted a Midtown commuter.

TikTok’s #SliceScript trend has exploded, with influencers live-streaming their “slice unlocks.” A viral clip showed a woman sobbing because her subscription app crashed in front of a Joe’s Pizza line.

Tabloids baked it up. “SUB-SCRIPTION” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “PAYWALL PIZZA.”

Mayor Adams defended it: “This is the innovation our carbs deserve.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If my pizza comes with microtransactions, I’m banning mozzarella.”
