Fifth Avenue Stores Hire Influencers as Mannequins

Window shopping goes live

According to reports, luxury boutiques now pay influencers to stand in their windows instead of mannequins. Passersby get live-streamed fashion shows while influencers sip lattes and adjust ring lights. Shoppers aren’t sure if they’re buying clothes or just funding a TikTok career.

“I bought a bag because the mannequin winked at me,” confessed one tourist. Some influencers demand green rooms stocked with collagen water, while traditional mannequins have filed a labor grievance for being replaced by humans with opinions.

TikTok loves #MannequinMood, featuring influencers striking poses until their Apple Watch reminds them to move. One fainted mid-window because the WiFi cut out.

Tabloids posed. “SHELF-ESTEEM” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “LIVE MODELS, DEAD SOULS.”

Mayor Adams praised it as “fashion in motion.” Governor Hochul muttered, “It’s window dressing gone wild.”
