Coney Island Replaces Rides with Therapy

Emotional roller coasters only

The beach just got deeper. According to reports, Coney Island has shut down its roller coasters and replaced them with “emotional roller coasters”—a lineup of therapy booths where visitors scream about rent hikes instead of plummeting from steel tracks.

“The Cyclone is fun, but have you tried unpacking your childhood trauma at 80 miles an hour?” asked a therapist in a bumper-car chair. For $50, guests ride “The Freudian Slip,” where attendants whisper guilt trips while handing cotton candy. The most popular attraction? “Rent Mountain,” a 3D simulator where your landlord ignores repair requests while raising your rent.

Locals are intrigued. “It’s scarier than the old rides—because it’s real,” muttered a Brooklyn tenant clutching a therapy corn dog. Tourists, meanwhile, left confused. “I just wanted funnel cake, but instead I cried about my father,” said one from Ohio.

Tabloids psychoanalyzed the move. “ROLLER FEELS” blasted the Post. The Daily News countered: “CONEY CRIES.” TikTok embraced #TherapyIsland, with users posting dramatic POVs of themselves sobbing on a tilt-a-couch.

Mayor Adams praised the innovation: “We’re turning trauma into tourism.” Governor Hochul suggested expanding it to Six Flags, though warned New Yorkers “already ride enough emotional coasters on the subway.”

For now, Coney Island proves you don’t need steel tracks to terrify—just unresolved issues and overpriced churros.
