Netflix Announces AI-Generated Sitcom; Writers Officially Unnecessary

Entertainment’s Future: Automated Mediocrity

Netflix has announced a completely AI-generated sitcom that required zero human creative input, something New York writers have been simultaneously dreading and secretly welcoming because maybe they can finally rest. The show is approximately as funny as a corporate memo about workplace diversity and somehow more expensive than hiring actual comedians.

“At least AI doesn’t demand royalties,” noted one Netflix executive, revealing that this was the entire point all along.

Entertainment industry publications expressed alarm, while this satirical coverage noted that sitcoms have been gradually less funny for 20 years anyway, so the transition was basically invisible.
