New perk for commuters
According to reports, the MTA has unveiled a bold innovation: special subway cars reserved exclusively for weeping. Dubbed “Crying Cars,” they provide tissues, sad playlists, and dim lighting so New Yorkers can sob without judgment. “I bawled for three stops and no one staredit was healing,” said one passenger.
The initiative targets stressed commuters who already cry in public but prefer a designated zone. Tissues are monogrammed with the MTA logo, while conductors remind riders: “Next stop, despair, transfer available to heartbreak.”
Reception is mixed. Some riders embrace the catharsis. “Finally, I can ugly cry about my rent without pretending its allergies,” said one actor. Others are skeptical. “The car already smells like tears and wet wool,” complained a Queens lawyer. Therapy goats (from the park program) have even been spotted freelancing in crying cars for emotional support.
TikToks #CryRide trend shows influencers livestreaming breakdowns, complete with mascara streaks and subway rats offering solidarity. One viral clip featured a rat handing a tissue to a sobbing commuter.
Tabloids blared: “ALL ABOARD THE WEEP TRAIN” (Post) vs. “METRO TEARS” (Daily News). Mayor Adams praised the plan: “If you must cry, do it on schedule.” Governor Hochul muttered, “If we start selling day passes for grief, Im banning feelings.”
