Fashion finally takes flight
SoHo just found its weirdest luxury accessory yet: pigeons. According to reports, boutiques now offer “designer pigeons” dyed in pastel hues and fitted with miniature couture harnesses. Prices start at $2,000 per bird, though VIP clients can commission limited-edition “Gucci coo-coos.”
“I wanted a Birkin, but my stylist told me a lavender pigeon is way more exclusive,” said one influencer. Tourists gawk at flocks of rainbow pigeons strutting down Prince Street, while locals just mutter, “This city is officially over.”
Reactions are messy. Animal rights activists worry the birds may unionize. Meanwhile, TikToks #SoHoPigeon trend features creators walking their feathered friends on diamond leashes past street art murals.
Tabloids cooed. “FEATHER WEATHER” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “CLUCKY STRIKE.”
Mayor Adams applauded the trend as “peak New York branding.” Governor Hochul expressed concern over sky-high pigeon poop removal costs, suggesting tourists should be taxed per photo taken.
For now, pigeons are no longer just rats with wingstheyre rats with receipts.
