Times Square Hosts 24/7 Karaoke

Off-key anthems never sleep

Move over, Naked Cowboy. According to reports, Times Square has launched a permanent 24/7 karaoke stage where tourists and locals alike can belt out their worst renditions of “Empire State of Mind.”

The karaoke pit, wedged between three Elmo impersonators and a knockoff handbag stall, already draws massive crowds. Songs are free, but earplugs cost $5. Microphones are disinfected every 12 hours, which is considered “frequent” by New York standards.

“Finally, a place for me to destroy Frank Sinatra classics,” said a Midtown accountant. Tourists adore it, though cab drivers complain about traffic jams caused by tone-deaf performances of “New York, New York.”

Social media trends fast. #BroadwayButWorse already has millions of views, with influencers lip-syncing badly under neon billboards. One viral clip shows a pigeon harmonizing mid-performance and still outshining the singer.

Tabloids went loud. “TONE SQUARE” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “MIC DROP.”

Mayor Adams called it “a cultural victory.” Governor Hochul suggested expanding karaoke hours in Albany, though staff threatened to resign.

For now, Times Square proves that in the city that never sleeps, it also never sings on-key.
