TikTok Priests Rank the Ten Commandments by Clout Potential

From Sinai to the “For You” Page

Move over, Vatican Radio—today’s hottest theologians wear ring lights and speak in stitchable soundbites. Welcome to the new era of spirituality where doctrine meets dopamine: TikTok Priests, the Gen Z clerics who have traded incense for influencer kits and confessionals for comments.

Their latest viral series?
“Ranking the Ten Commandments by Clout Potential.”
Spoiler: “Thou shalt not kill” barely cracked the top five.

And yes, it’s impolitic.
And yes, it’s trending.

The New Holy Metrics: Engagement Over Eternity

Father Ryan (aka @BlessedAndBased) explains the approach:

“It’s not that we’re rewriting scripture. We’re just optimizing it—for shareability.”

Each commandment is ranked on three core metrics:

  • Cloutability (Will it go viral?)

  • Duet-ability (Can it be turned into a thirst trap?)

  • Cancel Risk (Will this get us defrocked or monetized?)

The results are as holy as they are heretical.

The Rankings (According to the Almighty Algorithm)

#1 – Thou Shalt Not Covet
Perfect for subtweets and petty thirst traps. Hashtag it with #StayJealous.

“When you post your new car and your neighbor’s wife hits like? That’s a commandment engagement loop.”

#2 – Honor Thy Father and Mother
But only if your parents are cool with you swearing in skits.
Bonus points if your mom does a TikTok dance while quoting Proverbs.

#3 – Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness
A hit among drama channels and callout accounts.
Nothing boosts engagement like calling out a false prophet in the DMs.

#4 – Remember the Sabbath (Self-Care Edition)
Rebranded as #SilentSunday, this one fits seamlessly into spa content and meal-prep montages.

#5 – Thou Shalt Not Kill
Surprisingly mid-tier. Gets overshadowed by true crime TikTok.
Comments usually say: “Unless it’s vibes or cravings lol.”

The Losers

Thou Shalt Not Make Graven Images
Tanky performance. Confused with NFT bans and AI art protests.

Thou Shalt Have No Other Gods Before Me
Too controversial in multi-faith discourse. TikTok prefers inclusivity—unless it’s astrology-based.

What the Funny People Are Saying

Trevor Noah: “This is the only time I’ve seen Deuteronomy trend next to Dua Lipa.”

Ali Wong: “My daughter watched a priest lip-sync Leviticus over a Doja Cat track and said, ‘That’s my Pope now.’”

Dave Chappelle: “If Jesus came back today, He’d be shadowbanned by Thursday.”

Theology as Content Strategy

Religious studies departments are freaking out—and branding firms are thrilled. The Catholic Archdiocese of Las Vegas just hired a 19-year-old social media strategist named Braxx to help rebrand confession as “Emotional Download Night.”

New church programs include:

  • Commandment Challenge (Break one, repent creatively)

  • FYP: Forgive Your Parish

  • #BlessedNotPressed: Beatitude Influencer Bootcamp

The Impolitic Gospel of Going Viral

Sure, some bishops have expressed concern. One anonymous monsignor said:

“These kids are remixing Exodus like it’s a Travis Scott album.”

But younger clergy argue the impolitic edge is the point.
Says Sister Mackenzie (@NunYourBiz):

“If God didn’t want us to be edgy, He wouldn’t have invented wireless mics.”

Final Thoughts: When the Algorithm Becomes the Ark

Maybe the stone tablets didn’t come with filters, but the Word of God now comes in 1080p vertical video. And in the race between reverence and relevance, relevance is currently holding the mic—and it’s autotuned.

Because in this holy feed, only the bold, the impolitic, and the chronically online shall inherit the likes.

Auf Wiedersehen—and may your next commandment be duet-friendly.
