No feta, no peace
According to reports, Astoria locals are petitioning City Hall for subsidies on Greek yogurt, claiming prices have climbed higher than the Parthenon. Residents insist the neighborhoods cultural identity depends on affordable dairy.
One shop owner said, “We sell tzatziki by the gallon, but people want stimulus checks for Chobani.” Another family marched with signs reading “NO FETA, NO PEACE.”
TikToks #YogurtProtest trend shows crowds chanting while spooning plain yogurt. A viral clip showed a cop slipping on spilled honey during the rally.
Tabloids thickened. “DAIRY DEMANDS” screamed the Post. The Daily News countered: “GREEK GRIEF.”
Mayor Adams praised it as “cultural preservation.” Governor Hochul muttered, “Next theyll ask me for baklava rebates.”
