Pay per pose
According to reports, the city will now charge tourists $5 every time they take a selfie on the Brooklyn Bridge. Officials claim the “pose toll” will reduce congestion and fund bridge repairs, though locals insist its just another cash grab. “If you want that iconic skyline backdrop, youre gonna pay up,” announced a DOT spokesperson with a ring light.
Tourists are furious. “We flew from Kansas to post a free pic!” cried one traveler, fumbling with Venmo. Influencers, however, are unfazed, writing off fees as “content expenses.” NYPD officers will patrol with selfie counters, ticketing anyone snapping without proof of payment.
TikToks #BridgeSelfieTax trend is booming: influencers dramatically weeping while paying tolls, pranksters photoshopping receipts, and a man staging a marriage proposal only to be fined $10 for double angles. A viral video showed pigeons photobombing tourists, demanding bagel crumbs instead of money.
Tabloids clicked. The Post captioned: “PAY BEFORE YOU SLAY.” The Daily News countered: “SNAP TAX ATTACK.”
Mayor Adams called it “photo infrastructure.” Governor Hochul muttered: “If Albany tries this, Im banning ring lights.”
