National monument joins NYC nightlife scene with breathtaking views and outrageous prices
Lady Liberty has always welcomed tired, poor, huddled masses yearning to breathe free but now she also welcomes influencers yearning to sip overpriced cocktails. According to a new report, the Statue of Liberty has opened a rooftop bar inside her crown, offering $22 drinks, $18 fries, and a DJ who only plays remixes of patriotic tunes. Naturally, New Yorkers are already fighting over reservations.
The bars concept is simple: combine national pride with NYC nightlife. Guests ride an elevator into the crown, where theyre greeted by bartenders in colonial wigs shaking martinis called “Give Me Liquor or Give Me Death.” The signature drink, “Torch on the Rocks,” is served flaming and requires a waiver. Theres even a $100 shot called “The Green Giant,” which comes with a souvenir foam finger that says “Freedom Aint Free.”
Tourists are ecstatic. “Its the best rooftop in the city,” said one from Ohio. “Way better than Times Square Applebees.” Locals, however, are divided. Some say its sacrilegious to turn a historic monument into a club. Others argue its about time the statue paid rent. “Shes been squatting in the harbor for 138 years,” joked a Brooklynite. “Time to contribute.”
The vibe is peak New York. Bouncers turn away anyone who doesnt know at least three subway transfer routes. A bathroom attendant demands a two-dollar tip in Liberty Bonds. The playlist includes “Party in the U.S.A.” on repeat, followed by techno versions of Sousa marches. And at midnight, the torch lights up in sync with the bass drop.
Critics point out the bar is outrageously expensive. But regulars shrug. “$22 cocktails are basically charity at this point,” one finance bro explained. “At Le Bain, theyre $28.”
Meanwhile, the MTA is furious because ferries are now more reliable than trains. “I got to Liberty Island faster than I got to Bushwick,” complained one stunned rider. Mayor Adams has already praised the venture, saying, “If Lady Liberty can monetize nightlife, so can every neighborhood statue. Watch out, Charging Bull youre next.”
The Statues bar has already been booked for influencer birthdays, corporate events, and at least one proposal involving a ring hidden in a pretzel. Whether its patriotic or ridiculous, one things clear: New York has officially merged freedom with bottle service.
