Color me jaded and disappointed in politicians. Again. The country would do better with Josiah Bartlett as president and Aaron Sorkin as Chief of Staff. Regardless of which side of the American political line you stand on– red, blue, or, well, white if you’re not red or blue– I have grown tired of the lack of details from politicians.
President Trump said all those agreements done by previous presidents were trash, horrible, terrible, but never said exactly why. Details matter, people. Elizabeth Warren wants to break up Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Apple because they’re too big and have too much control over our lives.
Well, the devil is in the details, Senator. What kind of control?
Senator Bernie Sanders is pissed off at Apple because the company has a $2.5-billion plan to help California’s housing crisis. Sanders said its “throwing pennies at a crisis [it helped] create.”
OK. That’s the premise. Where are the details? How did Apple help to create the housing and homeless problem in California? How is it that Apple’s plan is just pennies? How much should Apple give to help dilute the crisis?
Both sides of the political aisle tend to speak out of both sides of their mouths so getting a straight, detailed answer isn’t want politicians give, and it likely would bore their constituents into voting for someone else.
Yes, the devil is in the details; whether we like it or don’t.
I want more details.
Sanders called Apple a tax evader, yet, if I’m not mistaken, is it not politicians who created the tax mess? Is Apple paying any taxes at all? Yes. Is Amazon? No. Is Apple merely following the tax rules that politicians created?
I want more details.
Even President Trump does the same thing. “Read the transcript” is the latest chant. I did. I read transcripts from politicians and government servants who pointed their fingers back to the president. From what I read, he’s not looking so good right now, despite what he says.
I’m tired of politicians lying through their teeth and lips, talking tough while taking home more money than they deserve. Raking Apple over the coals will not fly unless they come up with some details.
That’s not what politicians do unless someone is paying them first.
